Lord, be with your children in their suffering. Arm them with love in the war against blind hate. Amen.

Blood Brothers

J. Stephen Lang
2008: On this date Pastor Samuel Nayak stood at the entrance of his church in Orissa state, India, attempting to block the path of several hundred Hindu radicals. They slit his throat, left him for dead, and destroyed the church.

Protestants were brutally murdered and their homes and shops pillaged.

Marriage And Carnage

J. Stephen Lang
The mass killing began early on August 24 which in the Catholic calendar is St. Bartholomew’s Day, so the bloodbath is known as the St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre.

1 Timothy 1:15: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.”

Not To Be Muzzled

J. Stephen Lang
1531: In the Middle Ages most churches in Europe, especially the great cathedrals, had relics of some saint—these could be teeth, bones, pieces of clothing, a sword or axe by which the saint was martyred, and so forth.

Jesus Christ is in the Sight-Restoring Business.

The Blind Demoniac

David Jeremiah
Satan is in the Eye-Blinding Business. The Bible warns that the “god of this age” has blinded the minds of unbelievers “lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them” (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Every Christian is a steward of God—He has provided—we are to be faithful.

To Be Found Faithful

David Jeremiah
The earliest, and still the best, biblical example of a steward is Joseph—the favorite son of Jacob who was sold as a slave into Egypt by his jealous brothers. So rich was the blessing of God on Joseph that his Egyptian master, the wealthy Potiphar, made Joseph the overseer and manager (steward) of his entire household.

If we sow a godly action, we will reap a godly blessing.

God’s Harvest Law

David Jeremiah
Just as there are laws in the physical realm, so there are laws in the spiritual realm. One found in Galatians 6:7 is the universal Law of the Harvest: “… for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

Certainly the fear of God includes awe and reverence, but it does not exclude literal holy terror.

The Truth of Love Needs the Truth of Wrath

John MacArthur
People often try to explain the sense of these verses away by saying that the “fear” called for is a devout sense of awe and reverence. Certainly the fear of God includes awe and reverence, but it does not exclude literal holy terror.

The expression of His wrath and the expression of His love are both necessary to display His full glory.

Love and Wrath Not at Odds

John MacArthur
God’s love cannot be isolated from His wrath and vice versa. Nor are His love and wrath in opposition to each other like some mystical yin-yang principle. Both attributes are constant, perfect, without ebb or flow. God Himself is immutable—unchanging.

He postpones His judgments against sin while pleading with sinners to repent.

God Is Love

John MacArthur
By saying “God is love,” the apostle is making a very strong statement about the character and the essence of God. It is God’s very nature to love—love permeates who He is. This statement, “God is love,” is so profound that no less than Augustine saw it as an important evidence for the doctrine of the Trinity.

All of Grace

Charles Spurgeon
Grace is manifestly revealed in our redemption, for ye know therein the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and it is utterly inconceivable that any soul could have deserved to be redeemed with the precious blood of Christ.

CHRISTIAN BOOKS

Prevailing Prayer

Dwight L. Moody
The two first and essential means of grace are the Word of God and prayer. Conversion comes through these, for we are born again by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever.

The Overcoming Life

D.L. Moody
Are you an overcomer? Or, are you plagued by little sins that easily beset you? Even worse, are you failing in your Christian walk, but refuse to admit and address it? No Christian can afford to dismiss the call to be an overcomer.
