Fighting for the Truth and Love

John MacArthur

In a world where truth is under attack, few rise to defend it. But let's remember that our apathy won't be an excuse before Christ. In Revelation, we see how He rebuked the churches that tolerated falsehood. Let's do the same, bravely defend the truth.

What can you do to inspire others to defend the truth with both courage and love?

What can you do to inspire others to defend the truth with both courage and love?

Fighting for the Truth and Love | Devotional By John MacAthur

I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars . . . Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
Revelation 2:2, 4

Truth is under heavy attack, and there are too few courageous warriors who are willing to fight. When we stand before the judgment seat of Christ, believers from this generation will not be able to justify their apathy by complaining that the strife of conflict over truth just seemed “too negative” for the kind of culture we lived in—or that the issues were “merely doctrinal” and therefore not worth the effort.

Remember, Christ rebuked the churches in Revelation 2–3 that had tolerated false teachers in their midst (2:14–16, 20–23).

He expressly commended the Ephesian church for examining the claims of certain false apostles and exposing them as liars (Rev. 2:2).

Churches have a clear duty to guard the faith against false teachers who infiltrate. Christ Himself demands it.

At the same time, we need to notice carefully that a polemical defense of the faith by no means guarantees a healthy church, much less a healthy individual Christian. Christ also rebuked the doctrinally sound Ephesians for departing from their first love (Rev. 2:4).

As vital as it is for us to enlist in the Truth War and do battle for our faith, it is even more important to remember why we are fighting—not merely for the thrill of vanquishing some foe or winning some argument, but out of a genuine love for Christ, who is the living, breathing embodiment of all that we hold true and worth fighting for.
What can you do to inspire others to defend the truth with both courage and love?

All of it was done for you and me. Considering that, it is incumbent upon us to have the Blessing which the Cross affords

The Blessing which the Cross Affords

Jimmy Swaggart
This is the first mention of the Cross, although in shadow, after the Fall. The Lord told Satan through the serpent that victory would come by the Seed of the woman. Ironically, woman has no seed, with the exception of One, Who was the Lord Jesus Christ.
That “Light” resides in Christ, for He said, “I am the Light of the world”

Light which Redeems the Soul

Jimmy Swaggart
The darkness that was here prevalent was taken away only by the Spirit of God, as He moved upon the face of the waters. As someone has well said, The Moving of the Holy Spirit is the first sign of life.
Put your Faith in Him and what He has done for you at the Cross.

Beginnings are one thing, while endings are another!

Jimmy Swaggart
On this first day of a brand-new year, which is a new beginning of sorts, the Lord offers to every person a brand-new beginning in their life, irrespective as to what the past has been. Millions this year will make New Year’s resolutions, resolutions which invariably will not be kept.
The place where god puts you will not be perfect—even eden was exposed to the possibility of evil. But there is no better place to be than where god has set you down.

A Place Called Home

Colin S. Smith and Tim Augustyn
The book of genesis is part of the revelation god gave to moses at mount Sinai, so when it says eden was “in the east,” we are talking about a location somewhere east of Sinai.
We were created to come close to a Father who has made himself vulnerable to the longings of his people and to absorb his desires as he cares for and works through ours.

God’s Heart and Ours

Chris Tiegreen
One of the primary ways God accomplishes his purposes on earth is through the prayers of his people. And one of our primary motivations for prayer is the desires in our hearts.
