City on the plain of Judah (Josh. 15:33), occupied by the Danites (Josh. 19:41). Manoah, Samson's father, lived in this town (Judg. 13:2).
Samson was buried nearby (Judges 16:31). Some of the Danite spies of Laish and its conquerors were from Zorah (Judges 18:2, 8, 11).
Rehoboam fortified it (2 Chron. 11:10), and it was repopulated after the exile (Neh. 11:29). Its location is Sar'a, in the northern area of the Sorec valley (wadi es-Sarãr), 22 km west of Jerusalem.
