Jesus is the Lord of Life

Here is the truth: Jesus Christ is Lord of life and Lord of all. - Jack Graham

Jesus is the "Lord of Life", and that's the topic, that's the theme of the Gospel of John, and certainly John chapter 10 which is one of the well-known passages in all of the Bible.

Jesus had enemies. You know that, right? While He was loved and beloved by multitudes, many rejected Him. "He came unto His own and His own received Him not, but as many as received Him, to them gave He the right to be called the children of God even on them who believe on His name." But many rejected Jesus. And many resisted Him... violently at sometimes. And there was a public plan in the air to ruin Him.

They described Him... they meaning the culture and it was a religious culture... that said He was a drunk, a glutton, a demon-possessed maniac who broke the commandments of God; that He was a mad man. These descriptions of Jesus were offered by religious right-wing wingnuts who were more holy than God. And they attacked Jesus relentlessly and rigorously.

So what did Jesus do? Jesus fought back. Yes, He did. In fact, He called these religious... the Pharisees and others. Someone described them... the Pharisees of whom the milk of human kindness had curdled. Called the whitewashed tombs. Snakes, mass hypocrites, blind guides of the blind. And He even said, "Your daddy is the devil!... Your father is the devil." He called them also thieves and robbers. It was a confrontation between Jesus and religion. And this was not a way to win friends and influence people.

Here is the truth: Jesus Christ is Lord of life and Lord of all. He is the Savior and the only Savior of the world. The Bible is God's infallible, inerrant Word breathed out by Him.

God created the heavens and the earth with His word, He spoke it into being. God created them male and female. Marriage God's way is between a man and a woman. Life is sacred! And Jesus is Lord of life. He's coming again and He will bring justice to the world and to the future."

The Secret of Strength and Happiness

Timothy Keller
Psalm 1 is the gateway to the rest of the psalms. The “law” is all Scripture, to “meditate” is to think out its implications for all life, and to “delight” in it means not merely to comply but to love what God commands.
The new heavens and new earth are perfect because everyone and everything is glorifying God fully and therefore enjoying him forever.

A Glimpse into the Future of Eternal Praise

Timothy Keller
Every possible experience, if prayed to the God who is really there, is destined to end in praise. Confession leads to the joy of forgiveness. Laments lead to a deeper resting in him for our happiness. If we could praise God perfectly, we would love him completely and then our joy would be full.
Gospel joy, knowing how honored and loved we are in Christ (verse 5), makes us ready for this mission.

Poetry of Praise and Redemptive Mission

Timothy Keller
The praise of the redeemed. His people praise him because he has made them his people and because he honors and delights in them —though they don’t deserve it. Gospel joy, knowing how honored and loved we are in Christ, makes us ready for this mission.
Praise unites us also with one another. Here is “the only potential bond between the extremes of mankind: joyful preoccupation with God.” Praise the Lord!

The Praise that Unites All

Timothy Keller
Praise Those Unites. We see extremes brought together in praise: wild animals and kings, old and young. Young men and maids, old men and babes. How can humans be brought into the music? He has raised up for his people a horn, a strong deliverer.
All of nature sings God’s glory; we alone are out of tune. The question is this: How can we be brought back into the great music?

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Praise Resounds Throughout Creation

Timothy Keller
The Praise Of Creation. Praise comes to God from all he has made. It begins in the highest heaven (verses 1–4). It comes from the sun and moon and stars (verse 3), from the clouds and rain (verse 4).
