Amen

“So be it!” or “Yes, indeed!” or “Truly!” are fair translations of this Hebrew word used in both Old and New Testaments. Indicating agreement and affirmation, it often concludes prayers and was and is widely used in worship. Jesus used it when teaching, and it is often translated as “Truly,” as in “Truly, truly, I say to you . . .” Some later translations read “I tell you the truth,” but either way they’re translating “Amen.” Revelation 3:14 calls Christ “the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness.” And Revelation (and thus the whole Bible) ends in this way: “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen” (22:21).
