Take Care of the Little Things

John Maxwell

Someone who has some influence should try to build a team. Just start with what’s necessary. You’ve got to start small and work up to it. A person who has never led before needs to try to influence one other person.

Don’t try to conquer the world until you’ve taken care of things in your own backyard

Take Care of the Little Things. Daily Devotional by John Maxwell.

When I teach at a conference or go to a book signing, people sometimes confide in me that they desire to write books too. “How do I get started?” they ask.

“How much writing do you do now?” I ask in return.

Some tell me about articles and other pieces they are writing, and I simply encourage them; but most of the time they sheepishly respond,

“Well, I haven’t really written anything yet.”
“Then you need to start writing,”
I explain. “You’ve got to start small and work up to it.”

Leadership is the same. You’ve got to start small and work up to it. A person who has never led before needs to try to influence one other person.

Someone who has some influence should try to build a team. Just start with what’s necessary.

St. Francis of Assisi said, “Start doing what is necessary; then do what is possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” All good leadership begins where you are.

It was Napoleon who said, “The only conquests which are permanent and leave no regrets are our conquests over ourselves.”

The small responsibilities you have before you now comprise the first great leadership conquest you must make.

Don’t try to conquer the world until you’ve taken care of things in your own backyard.

Depression is apt to turn us away from the ordinary commonplace things of God's creation

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

The Initiative Against Depression

Oswald Chambers
A human being is capable of depression, otherwise there would be no capacity for exaltation. There are things that are calculated to depress, things that are of the nature of death; and in taking an estimate of yourself, always take into account the capacity for depression.

The Inspiration of Spiritual Initiative

Oswald Chambers
When the inspiration of God does come, it comes with such miraculous power that we are able to arise from the dead and do the impossible thing. God does not give us overcoming life; He gives us life as we overcome.
So long as there is a human being who does not know Jesus Christ, I am his debtor to serve him until he does.

The Determination To Serve

Oswald Chambers
The mainspring of Paul 's service is not love for men, but love for Jesus Christ. Paul's realization of how Jesus Christ had dealt with him is the secret of his determination to serve others.
No matter what sin we have committed, no matter how terrible it may be, God loves us.- Billy Graham

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

What God’s Love Can’t Do

Billy Graham
God cannot forgive the unrepentant sinner. The human race is called on throughout the Bible to repent of sin and return to God. This love of God can be entirely rejected. God will not force Himself upon any man against his will.
“To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge! To do the will of God is the greatest achievement.”—George W. Truett

Pure and Powerful

Zig Ziglar
Too often, we value all received messages equally. God’s Word, though, is more precious and valuable than any other message sent to us. The psalmist describes God’s message as “pure words” that are like silver processed “seven times” in the furnace.
