Prayer for Overcoming Adversaries | Daily Prayer
"As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, 'Strike this army with blindness.' So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked. Elisha told them, 'This is not the road and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will lead you to the man you are looking for.' And he led them to Samaria.
After they entered the city, Elisha said, 'Lord, open the eyes of these men so they can see.' Then the Lord opened their eyes and they looked, and there they were, inside Samaria.
When the king of Israel saw them, he asked Elisha, 'Shall I kill them, my father? Shall I kill them?' 'Do not kill them,' he answered. 'Would you kill those you have captured with your own sword or bow? Set food and water before them so that they may eat and drink and then go back to their master.'
So he prepared a great feast for them, and after they had finished eating and drinking, he sent them away, and they returned to their master. So the bands from Aram stopped raiding Israel’s territory." — 2 Kings 6:18-23 (NIV)
Daily Exhortation
What a remarkable precedent for believers! One of the weapons of warfare you can use on people intent on harming you is blindness — blindness of the senses or to be more specific, reality distortion.
Aram [or Syria] was at war with Israel. The king of Aram would make plans to attack the armies of Israel but somehow all his plans were getting to the king of Israel... even those he made in his bedroom behind closed doors. In time, he got to know that it was Elisha who, by the Spirit of God, was revealing his plans to the king of Israel.
The solution was to capture the prophet and this is where reality distortion was unleashed upon the Syrian soldiers. Their eyes were open, they could see but they could no longer recognize Elisha. It is possible your work or your godly conduct is hindering the plans of someone else and they have decided to "get you."
Since you may or may not know that something like this is being planned, it's best to pray preventive prayers and to deploy this weapon of reality distortion or blindness of the senses.
Today's Prayers
1. Everlasting Father, I am not ignorant of the devices of the enemy. Therefore, I come before You today to seek Your help, in the name of Jesus.
2. My God, if there is any man or woman angry with me for no just cause and about to execute their evil plans against me, let them receive blindness of the senses, in the name of Jesus.
3. My Lord and my God, cause the reality of these persons to be distorted and to become completely powerless against me, in the name of Jesus.
4. My desire is for them to see me and to be afraid of me. O God, execute my desire upon them, in the name of Jesus.
5. As with Elisha, my plan is to be blessed enough so that I can prepare a feast and feed this type of enemies, in the name of Jesus.
6. As a result of these prayers and as with Elisha, let all attacks against me from this type of enemies stop permanently, in the name of Jesus.
7. Thank You Almighty Father, in Jesus' mighty name, amen.
