TORRENT
Usually a small watercourse that does not dry up, such as the Kishon (1 Kings 18:40) and the Jabbok (translated “stream,” Gen. 32:23).
However, this name also refers to impetuous avenues of water in the rainy season, in winter, but which dry out in summer.
Among them are the torrent of Egypt (Num. 34:5; see TORRENT OF EGYPT); of Zered (Deut. 2:13), and the Kidron (2 Sam. 15:23; John 18:1).
