PROVIDENCE

PROVIDENCE

Loving and foreseeing care that God has for his creatures.
God’s providence sustains and governs all creation. His operation is as extensive as the Universe and as incessant as the course of time.

All his attributes take part in it. It provides the crow with its food and satisfies the needs of every living being.

The Bible shows us that all Nature looks to Him and depends on Him (Jb. 38:41; Ps. 104; 145:15, 16; 147:8, 9), and constantly declares that every event, as well as every being, are entirely subordinated to Him.

There is nothing in the Universe that can be called casual: «The lot is cast in the bosom; but all his judgment is the Lord’s” (Prov. 16:33). Not a sparrow or a hair of the head falls to the ground without his knowledge (Isa. 14:26, 27; Mt. 10:29, 30; Acts 17: 24-29).

Anything was not too small for God to create, nor too small for Him to fail to preserve and govern it.

The history of every man, the organization and fall of nations, and the progress of the Church of Christ reveal at every moment the hand of Him who “worketh all things according to the counsel of his own will.”
