Country between the Jabbok and the Arnon, beyond the Jordan (Wars 3:3, 3); cf. the meaning and situation of Abarim.
The name Perea also served to designate a larger territory, since Josephus states that Gadara, on the banks of the Yarmouk, was the capital of Perea (Wars 4:7, 3).
