PAINTINGS
In Isa. 2:16, the expression “treasured pictures” can also be translated as “pictures, or images of desire,” referring to something on which the heart is set.
The closest approximation known in ancient Egypt to what is now called “paintings” are the colored representations made on the walls of temples and tombs.
The walls of Babylon were adorned with paintings on enamelled bricks: allusion to them seems to be made in Ezek. 23:14.
