NURSE

(a) Heb. “meneketh”, a nurse who breastfeeds a newborn (Ex. 2:7-9; 2 Kings 11:2). Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, was highly regarded by the family (Gen. 24:59; 35:8).
Nurses were generally highly appreciated (cf. Odyssey 19:15, 251).

(b) Heb. «’Õmên», servant, and «’õmeneth», servant. Domestic, man or woman, who took care of small children. Translated as:
“she who breeds” (Num. 11:12),
“ah” (Rt. 4:16);
“nurse” (2 Sam. 4:4) in the KJV.
