NORTH

(a) Heb. “mezarim”, lit.: “the spreading.”
The north wind spreads the clouds and brings severe cold. Elihu observes that the cold comes from the north. This term appears only in Jb. 37:9.

(b) Heb. «tsaphõn», «hidden, dark».
The ancients considered the north as a region of gloom and darkness. This is the term commonly translated as north in the OT (Gen. 13:14, etc.).
(c) Gr. “you erase,” north (Lk. 13:29; Rev. 21:13).
