MASCHIL
Heb term. which appears in the headings of the following salts: 32; 42; 44; Four. Five; 52; 53; 54; 55; 74; 78; 88; 89 and 142.
It is a term that means “instruction,” and these psalms give instructions for the faithful remnant who will understand.
The same word, in the plural (“maschilim”) means “the wise” or “the understanding” (cf. Dan. 11:33, 35; 12:3, 10).
