LOUSE
(Heb. “kinnĂ£m” or “kinnim”). Small annoying insect, parasite of man. It was the third plague of Egypt (Ex. 8:13). There are translators who render “mosquito”, but Josephus indicates that it was lice, and in all probability he is the one who is right.
Lice constitute a permanent plague of the first magnitude in the East. It is difficult to imagine the anguish caused by their prodigious multiplication.
To escape this plague, Muslims shave their heads and shave their entire body; With this they follow the ancient custom of the Egyptian priests.
