LIVESTOCK

LIVESTOCK

Various Hebrew terms are used in reference to cow and ox as “cattle.”
However, the term “miqneh”, frequently used for “livestock”, means “possession”, because the main property of the nomadic tribes was their livestock.
Livestock also included sheep and goats, but not horses or donkeys (Ex. 9:3-21, etc.).

Another term, “tson,” means small livestock, that is, sheep and goats (Gen. 30:39-43; 31:8-43; Eccl. 2:7). “Seh” has this same meaning (Gen. 30:32; Ez. 34:17-22).
