(b) Southwest city taken by Joshua, its inhabitants totally destroyed (Josh. 10:29). It was assigned to Judah, and later to the priests (Josh. 21:13; 1 Chron. 6:57).

She rebelled against Jehoram (2 Kings 8:22). It was later besieged by Sennacherib (Is. 37:8), but it does not appear to have been taken. Probable location of this city: Tell Bornath, about 3 km northwest of Eleutheropolis (Beit Djibrin). Tell es-Sãfi has also been proposed.
