HILKIAH

“The Lord is my part” (cp. Ps. 16:5).
(a) Levite, son of Amsi, descendant of Merari (1 Chron. 6:45, 46).

(b) Another Levite, descended from Merari; son of Hosha (1 Chr. 26:11).

(c) Father of Eliakim; The latter had a high position in the court of King Hezekiah (2 Kings 18:18, 26; Is. 22:20; 36:3).

(d) Priest, father of Jeremiah (Jer. 1:1).

(e) Father of Gemariah, contemporary of Jeremiah (Jer. 29:3).

(f) High priest, contemporary of King Josiah; He helped him in his religious reform, and found the book of the law in the temple (2 Kings 22: 4-14; 23: 4; 1 Chr. 6:13; 2 Chr. 34: 9-22) .

(g) One of the chief priests who returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel (Neh. 12:7).
In the next generation, there is a patriarchal house named Hilkiah (Neh. 12:21).

(h) One of those who helped Ezra read the law to the people (Neh. 8:4).
