HAYA

(Heb. “berosh”). It is the same term that is translated “cypress” in several passages (see). It is not certain which tree is mentioned, although its wood has characteristics very similar, if not identical, to that of the cypress.

Translated “beech” with reference to: musical instruments (2 Sam. 6:5); of the tree in which storks nest (Ps. 104:17); as wood for the making of ships (Ez. 27:5), etc.
