HADADEZER
“Hadad is a help.”
Son of Rehob, Syrian king of Sobah. He was defeated by King David, suffering heavy losses, and driven beyond the Euphrates. David took much booty and golden shields, which he consecrated to the Lord.
Hadadezer was also completely defeated by David two other times (2 Sam. 8:3-12; 10:6, 14, 15-18). As a result, the kings allied with Hadadezer abandoned the war against Israel and became tributaries of David (2 Sam. 10:19).
