GITIT
“belonging to Gath.”
Name found in the titles of Ps. 8, 81 and 84. probably denotes a musical instrument or melody from Gath, where David lived for some time during Saul’s persecution of him (1 Sam. 27:1 -7).
The word “Gat” means “wine press” in Hebrew; Hence some scholars deduce that Gitit means a melody that was sung during the grape harvest.
