GESHUR

GESHUR

“bridge”.
District located between Hermon and Bashan, on the borders of Argob (Deut. 3:14; Josh. 12:5; 13:11, 13; 1 Chron. 2:23).

This country was undoubtedly east of Maacah, since Maacah bordered Naphtali.

The country of Geshur probably extended from Lake Galilee to Bashan; it was an Aramaic kingdom (2 Sam. 13:37; 15:8); David took a wife from Geshur; Absalom, his son by her, took refuge there after killing Ammon (2 Sam. 3:3; 13:37).
