GERA

GERA

“grain”.
(a) The smallest of the weight measurements, and based on the weight system of the Jews.
It was the twentieth part of a shekel (Ex. 30:13; Lev. 27:25; Num. 3:47).

(b) Also used as a proper name:
Son of Benjamin (Gen. 46:21). It probably represents a family clan, since Ehud and Shimei are called “sons of Gera” (Judg. 3:15; 2 Sam. 16:5).
