FESTUS

FESTUS

“celebrated, joyful.”
Prosecutor of Judea, appointed by Nero as Felix’s successor in 60 AD.

Festus informed by the Jews against Paul, not wanting to completely snub them, he asked Paul for his consent to be brought to trial in Jerusalem.

Knowing of the Jews’ intentions to kill him, he appealed to Caesar as a Roman citizen (Acts 25, 26).

Josephus, in his account of Festus, explains that he had a noble character.
