EPHRAIM

EPHRAIM

(a) The youngest son of Joseph and Asenath, daughter of Potipherah, priest of On.
He was born when Joseph was prime minister of Egypt (Gen. 41:45-52).

Jacob prophesied that Ephraim would be the father of many nations (Gen. 48:8-20).

(b) A city of Judah (2 Sam. 13:23). Vespasian, a Roman general, took Ephraim and Bethel in his advance on Jerusalem. It could be the same city of Ephraim where Jesus retreated (John 11:54).
