EBAL
Mount Ephraim from which the curses that would fall on Israel if they disobeyed the Lord were proclaimed.
On this mountain large whitewashed stones were raised, on which the law had been written.
Thus, the law and the curse were united on the same mountain (Deut. 11:29; 27:4, 13); but along with these stones, Joshua also erected an altar to Jehovah God of Israel, before the blessings were proclaimed from Mount Gerizim and the curses from Mount Ebal.
Both mountains are separated by a very narrow valley, and you can hear very clearly from one mountain to the other.
Mount Ebal has a height of 930 meters above sea level, and its location is 32° 14′ N, 35° 16′ E.
