DIBON
“fainting.”
(a) City north of the Arnon, conquered and rebuilt by the Israelites of Gad (Num. 21:30; 32:34) and therefore also called Dibon-gad (Num. 33:45, 46). It then passed to Reuben (Josh. 13:9, 17) and later to the Moabites (Isa. 15:2; Jer. 48:18, 22).
There are ruins with the same name and in them the famous Moabite Stone was discovered (see MOAB, [stone of]).
(b) A place in Judah (Neh. 11:25).
