DEW
In Palestine, the western maritime winds bring with them, after sunset, such considerable humidity that at night, especially in spring and autumn, abundant dew falls, which moistens the fabrics of the tents and drips of the roofs (Song. 5:2; Jb. 29:19).
This dew, in that dry summer, is of great importance for the earth (Gen. 27:28; Deut. 33:28; Hos. 14:6). According to the Israelite conception, the dew is produced by Jehovah (Mi. 5:6).
The south winds prevent the dew from falling (1 Kings 17:1; Hag. 1:1). In 2 Sam. 17:12 and Ps. 110:3 the dew is the image of an extraordinary crowd.
