This is on its way to becoming the Bible of American evangelicals. Published in 1978, it managed—quite amazingly—to displace the beloved King James Version as evangelicals’ favorite. It is a clear and readable translation and—the translators were wise—it does retain the wording of the Kings James wherever it was accurate.
