Five Old Testament books are the Megilloth, or “rolls,” each one read aloud at a major Jewish festival. Ruth is read at the Feast of Weeks, the Song of Solomon at Passover, Esther at Purim, Ecclesiastes at the Feast of Tabernacles, and Lamentations at the ninth of Ab (commemorating the destruction of the temple).
