This term, usually used by those who frown on the Bible, used to refer to areas of the U.S. that took a conservative view of the Bible and believed its moral standards were still in force. The Deep South was usually thought of as the “Bible Belt.” As more and more Americans relocate, “Bible Belt” now refers not to a place so much as a state of mind.
