Scofield’s study Bible has been around since 1909 and is still being printed in various editions. Scofield himself was a Confederate army veteran, then a lawyer who turned to the ministry and worked with the famous D. L. Moody. He organized Bible conferences in the U.S. and abroad, but his chief claim to fame is the Scofield Reference Bible with its notes reflecting the position known as dispensationalism (see 722).
