Beelzebub

The name means “lord of the flies” and refers to a god of the Philistine people of Ekron (2 Kings 1:2). But in the New Testament the name refers to the “prince of demons,” Satan. Some of Jesus’ enemies attributed His miracles to the power of Beelzebub (Mark 3:22; Luke 11:15).
