Prayer for Favor Through Appearance | Daily Prayer
"Now Laban had two daughters. The older daughter was named Leah, and the younger one was Rachel. There was no sparkle in Leah’s eyes, but Rachel had a beautiful figure and a lovely face. Since Jacob was in love with Rachel, he told her father, 'I’ll work for you for seven years if you’ll give me Rachel, your younger daughter, as my wife.'" — Genesis 29:16-18 (NLT)
Daily Exhortation
The basic reason why Jacob wanted to marry Rachel instead of Leah was because, in his own eyes, Rachel was prettier than Leah and had a lovely figure. The Bible is packed with children of God whose good looks favored them with no strings attached.
For instance, when they were looking for someone who would play music to ease king Saul's emotional issues, someone recommended David and included his good looks in the rec — "One of the servants answered, 'I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is a brave man and a warrior.
He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the LORD is with him.'" (1 Samuel 16:18 (NIV)). Other translations referred to David as 'a man of good presence', 'a comely person', 'a handsome man', etc. You too can ask the Lord to use your looks to bring you blessings. Remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is very important.
Today's Prayers
1. Holy Father, as people throughout the ages have received favor by reason of their looks, let this also be my lot in my own lifetime, in the name of Jesus.
2. My Lord and my God, let my looks help me to accentuate all my other God-given gifts before those who can help me, in the name of Jesus.
3. O God, let it be for me that beauty shall be in the eye of the beholder. Even though others may be better looking than I am, let my own looks match the requirements of what is being sought so that I can be blessed, in the name of Jesus.
4. I reject satanic deceptions cloaked as opportunities and I will never fall into the trap of the enemy, in the name of Jesus.
5. Any lifting up of my heart in pride by reason of my appearance and form, by the power of the Holy Spirit, I quench you, in the name of Jesus.
6. I decree and declare that as God uses what He has given me to open doors for me, let me use what He has given me to glorify His Holy name wherever I find myself, in the name of Jesus.
7. Thank You heavenly Father for showing me Your mercy, in Jesus' mighty name, amen.
