Dr. Charles F. Stanley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta and founder of In Touch Ministries. Charles Stanley was born on September 25, 1932 in Dry Fork, Virginia.


Charles F. Stanley is the founder of In Touch Ministries and a New York Times best-selling author. While his teaching is transmitted throughout the world to millions of people, Dr. Stanley has been said to demonstrate a practical, keen awareness of people's needs and provide Christ-centered, biblically-based principles for everyday life.

1932: Charles Frazier Stanley is born. Charley and Rebecca Stanley gave birth to a son in Dry Fork, Virginia.

Stanley graduated from the University of Richmond in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He later earned a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and a Master of Theology degree from Luther Rice Seminary in Jacksonville, Florida.

1977: The ministry is founded. Dr. Stanley decides to call it "In Touch," which comes from a Living Bible he owned. 1988: Dr. Stanley is inducted into the National Religious Broadcasters' (NRB) Hall of Fame.

Dr. Stanley’s motivation is best represented by the truth found in Acts 20:24, “Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love.” This is because, as he says, “It is the Word of God and the work of God that changes people’s lives.”

Stanley is a prolific author, having written dozens of books, including "The Gift of Forgiveness," "The Charles F. Stanley Life Principles Bible," and "Eternal Security." He has been recognized for his contributions to the religious community, receiving numerous awards and honorary degrees.
