CAESAREA
Judean port city that Herod the Great built, 40 km northwest of Samaria, in honor of Augustus Caesar; It became the Roman capital of Palestine.
Cornelius the Roman centurion (Acts 10) and Philip the evangelist lived there (Acts 8:40; 21:8). Paul was imprisoned in Caesarea for two years (Acts 23:31; 26:32). Today it is called Caiseri.
