(a) Levitical city in Manasseh, beyond the Jordan (Josh. 21:27), called Ashtaroth in 1 Chron. 6:71.

(b) Important city of Edom that guarded the way to the copper mines in the Arabah and whose destruction the prophets announced (Gen. 36:33; Is. 34:6; Am. 1:12; Jer. 49:13, 22); notable for his sheep (Mi. 2:12); today Buseira, about 32 km southeast of the Dead Sea.

(c) Moabite city (Jer. 48:24), probably identical with Bezer
